GENERAL ASSEMBLY GUIDELINES

A parent, guardian or mentor is expected to help in the construction of the car.  They must NOT build the car for the child, but instead share in this educational experience by being present and giving help only when necessary.  A booklet and plan is available for each division and shall be followed during assembly.

The participant must drive only the car they build!

STOCK DIVISION (8-13 years old)

The Stock Division is designed to give the first-time builder a learning experience.  They complete in simplified cars built from kits purchased from the All-American Soap Box Derby (www.aasbd.com).  These cars are a basic lean-forward style car and can be customized with stickers but must not be painted.  The Stock Cars are available in three colors: red, white or blue.

Participants in the Stock Division must be 8 years old by the date of the race and must not turn 14 years old in the current race year.  The maximum weight limit for car and driver is 200 pounds.

SUPER STOCK DIVISION (10-17 years old)

The Super Stock Division is designed to give the competitor an opportunity to expand their knowledge and build a more advanced model.  They complete in cars built from kits purchased from the All-American Soap Box Derby (www.aasbd.com).  These cars are a lean-forward style car and can be customized with paint, stickers and more. 

The Super Stock Cars are available in a basic white and are to be painted.

Participants in the Super Stock Division must be 10 years old by the date of the race and must not turn 18 years old in the current race year.  The maximum weight limit for car and driver is 230 pounds.
